We’ve already seen the unlocked versions of the HTC One M8 and One M9 get their Android 6.0 updates, and soon some North American carrier models will be updated, too.
HTC’s Mo Versi has revealed that the HTC One M8 on Sprint and T-Mobile and the HTC One M9 on Sasktel, Rogers, Wind, and Videotron will all get their Android 6.0 updates shortly. The Sprint HTC One M8 — which includes the Harman Kardon edition — is expected to get its update “mid next week.” Meanwhile, HTC is targeting January 25 as the Android 6.0 release date for T-Mobile’s One M8.
Moving up north, the HTC One M9 models on Sasktel, Rogers, Wind, and Videotron are all expected to begin getting Marshmallow on Monday, January 18.
The Android 6.0 update is a big one that adds several notable software features. For example, Doze aims to help save you some battery life, and the improved permissions will make apps ask you for access to something only when it needs it. And then there’s Google Now on Tap, an improved version of Google Now that’ll show you additional information on the content that’s currently on your screen.
So yeah, you’ll want to snag your Android 6.0 update as soon as its available. HTC One M9 owners on Sasktel, Rogers, Wind, and Videotron should keep an eye out starting Monday. You HTC One M8 owners on Sprint and T-Mobile should stay tuned, and we’ll let you know when the rollouts begin.
