ORIGINAL: Samsung has continued to improve Samsung Pay in the months since the mobile payment service launched, and today it’s getting better again.
Samsung Pay now supports gift cards from 50 merchants, including Babies”R”Us, Toys”R”Us, Bass Pro Shops, Dominos, eBay, GameStop, Nike, Regal Entertainment Group, and Staples. Samsung says that it’ll add support for more merchant gift cards in the coming months.
In addition to being able to add gift cards to Samsung Pay, you can now buy select gift cards for yourself or others from within the Samsung Pay app.
Gift card support is a solid addition for Samsung Pay, especially right now, when we’re in the thick of the holiday season. Gift cards are a popular gift during the holidays because they’re easy to buy and let the recipient buy whatever they’d like from a store. Cramming gift cards next to credit cards can make your wallet thick, though, so Samsung is addressing that issue by building in gift card support to its mobile payment service.
