Google Photos has gotten a lot of praise ever since it was spun out of Google+, with folks enjoying the service’s photo backup and automatic creations. Now Google is beefing up Photos with shared albums, which is pretty much what it sounds like.
With shared albums, you can create an album of photos and then share it with others. Those people can then join the album and add their own photos and videos, and they’ll also be notified when new photos are added. If you like a photo that someone else added to a shared album, you can save it so that you’ll always have it in your Google Photos, too.
Shared albums is rolling out today, and it’s available on Android, iOS, and the web. Now that we’re in the thick of the holiday season, this seems like a great feature to add to Google Photos. With it, you can easily share albums of your holiday get-togethers with friends and family, and they can then add their own photos. Once everyone’s finished, you’ll have a photo album that’ll let you experience every little thing that happened at the party, even parts that you weren’t physically participating in.
