As smartphones and tablets become more powerful with more capable software, folks are increasingly shunning laptops and desktops and relying on their mobile devices for all of their computing needs. Some folks find it difficult to type with speed and accuracy on glass touchscreen of a phone or tablet, though, which is where mobile keyboards come in.
The LG Rolly Keyboard is a new, full-size keyboard that’s designed for use with a smartphone or tablet. The Rolly Keyboard has a 17mm key pitch that LG touts is “comparable” to the 18mm key pitch of most desktop keyboards, and the Rolly Keyboard is made of polycarbonate and black plastic that’s meant to offer tactile feedback. Finally, the Rolly Keyboard has two arms that fold out to support smartphones as well as tablets up to 10 inches in diameter.
As you might’ve guessed, the Rolly Keyboard can roll up when not in use. The four-stage fold up system turns the Rolly Keyboard into a “stick” that won’t take up as much space in your bag as a regular, non-rolly keyboard.
The Rolly Keyboard connects using Bluetooth 3.0 and can connect to two devices at the same, letting you switch between them with a button press. The keyboard itself is powered by a single AAA battery.
The LG Rolly Keyboard will launch in the US at an unspecified date for an unspecified price. LG says that it’ll share more availability info closer to launch, and it’ll also be bringing the Rolly Keyboard to IFA next week.
