Samsung Pay isn’t slated to launch in the US until September 28, but if you’re the type that likes to try things before most other people, you can sign up to beta test Samsung Pay right now.
Samsung is taking sign-ups for the Samsung Pay beta in the US. To qualify, you’ll need a Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, or Galaxy Note 5 on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or US Cellular. Looks like Verizon isn’t done evaluating Samsung Pay yet. You’ll also need an active Samsung Account and a qualifying card from Bank of America MasterCard or Visa or a US Bank Visa.
Samsung Pay is the latest mobile payment service, coming to market to compete with the likes of Apple Pay and eventually Android Pay, as well. What’s notable about Samsung Pay is that its Magnetic Secure Transmission technology lets you use your card at regular terminals that don’t support Near Field Communication. Of course, you can also use NFC like other payment services if you’d like.
