Good news, Windows 10 Mobile testers: There’s a new build to try out!
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10512 is now rolling out to testers in the Fast ring. Indeed, I just grabbed my Windows 10 Mobile test device, went to Phone Update in Settings, and the update was there.
This new 10512 build brings with it a “general improvement in overall stability and performance” as well as some more specific bug fixes like an issue where folder tiles would have overlapping text, a problem that’d prevent the Camera app from launching when the phone was locked, an issue where notifications for incoming texts wouldn’t appear, and more. Here’s Microsoft’s list of changes:
There are a few issues with the new build that Microsoft is already aware of. Those include a non-functional mobile hotspot feature and a bug where some phones with lots of pinned Live Tiles may get stuck in a “Loading…” state. To fix this, you’ll need to reset the device or roll it back to Windows Phone 8.1.
Microsoft’s Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview builds have been getting better with each update, and while there are definitely some known bugs with build 10512, it’s definitely still worth an update if you’re already running the preview software. If you have a Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview phone, head into Settings > Update & security > Phone update to grab build 10512.
