T-Mobile has just announced Advanced Messaging, a new communication tool that brings together old SMS features with advanced improvements similar to the likes of WhatsApp, iMessage, and Facebook Messenger. This new service, based on the Rich Communications Services standard, will be supported on the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime smartphone. And as the year progresses, almost a dozen other devices will receive the service.
Once Advanced Messaging service is available on T-Mobile phones, users will get to enjoy rich one-on-one real time chat as well as group chats with their friends using the same service. Through Advanced Messaging, they can share high-resolution photos and videos. They can even share files of up to 10MB in size. And the best part about Advanced Messaging is that it won’t require an additional payment. Whenever possible, the service will simply replace the old SMS service.
In order to use Advanced Messaging, both devices need to have RCS enabled. And considering the fact that this service will initially only be available on the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, only users of this device will get to enjoy the service. T-Mobile, however, promises that other devices will get the service before the year closes.
Perhaps this service will soon be available on other networks too?
