The much awaited Kyocera Hydro WAVE has just been announced and it’s making its way to T-Mobile and MetroPCS networks. If you’ve been waiting for this particular model to be released, you’ll be pleased to know that it comes with a budget-friendly price tag and all the gorgeous specs Kyocera initially promised it to have.
The Hydro WAVE comes with a 5.0-inch qHD LCD display, a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing sensor, and a 2300mAh battery. Powering it from within is a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for up to 32GB memory expansion. Upon unboxing, the device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is built with the new, simplified “Core Home” UI skin from Kyocera.
But what really sets this phone apart from its competition is its rugged functionality. The Kyocera Hydro WAVE stays true to its name and has received both IPX5 and IPX7 certifications, which means that the device can be submerged in water for up 1 meter for as long as 30 minutes. In addition to this waterproof functionality, the device has obtained an IP5X dustproof rating and Military Standard 810G certification against drops and shock. When wet, the device can still be operational.
The Kyocera Hydro WAVE starts selling at T-Mobile stores today for $149.99 off-contract or at $6.25/month for a total of 24 months. It’ll head to MetroPCS stores on July 27th for an off-contract price of $189.99.
