Nearly one month after launching the Clarity Keyboard Beta for Android, SwiftKey has expanded its Greenhouse experimental program with a second app.
Hexy Launcher is a new launcher app for Android that aims to organize the apps on your home screen and then learning the ways that you use apps. It’ll then place them in a way that aims to reduce the time that you’re hunting for an app to launch. The apps are arranged in a hexagonal grid based on color, and the center of the grid holds the apps that Hexy thinks you use the most. You can search for apps and add widgets that can be resized.
Like Clarity, Hexy Launcher is an experimental app that’ll get supported by “a small but dedicated team” in SwiftKey’s Greenhouse program. SwiftKey says that Hexy Launcher will gain updates in the coming months to improve its IQ and predictive technology.
There’s definitely no shortage of launcher apps available on Android, so it’ll be interesting to see how Hexy Launcher compares. The hexagonal grid gives the launcher a unique look, but what will be important to watch is how good it’s predictive technology is and if it does indeed save you time by presenting your most-used apps front and center.
