Remember that time that the Huawei SnapTo randomly appeared on Amazon? Well fast-forward a couple of days and Huawei has finally come forward and announced its new smartphone.

The Huawei SnapTo is officially available for pre-order for $179.99 in either black or white. Amazon says that the black model will ship on April 17, but the white version apparently won’t be released until May 15. No matter which color you choose, you’ll get a smartphone with the following specs:

• 5-inch 1280x720 display
• 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor
• 5-megapixel rear camera with flash
• 2-megapixel front-facing camera
• 8GB of storage
• microSD card slot
• 1GB of RAM
• 2200mAh battery
• GSM 850/900/1800/1900
• UMTS 850/AWS/1900/2100
• LTE bands 2, 4, 5, and 12
• Support for AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S.
• Android 4.4 KitKat
• Ultra Snapshot, which lets you press the volume down button twice to activate the camera from anywhere

We’ve seen several manufacturers focus on offering affordable, no-contract smartphones lately, including the likes of Motorola and Microsoft. The SnapTo appears to be Huawei’s effort to capture some of the price-conscious consumer market in the U.S., and while it’s not going to blow your hair back with high-end specs, the SnapTo looks like it should be a respectable daily driver for folks with basic tasks.
