When Microsoft revealed that it plans to release Windows 10 this summer, it also teased that it’s partnering with Chinese Android phone maker Xiaomi to allow some Mi 4 owners to test Windows 10 for phones. Few details about the testing were given at the time, but today we’re getting a peek at a Windows 10-powered Mi 4 in action.
Several images and a video have surfaced that show a Xiaomi Mi 4 running Windows 10 for phones. The photos show a white Mi 4 with the Windows 10 lock screen and Start screen, the latter of which is full of app tiles. Meanwhile, the video shows a user scrolling through the Mi 4’s Start and app screens and opening apps like Internet Explorer, Office, and the Windows Phone Store. Everything appears to function just like you’d expect it to, including the capacitive navigation buttons on the front of the phone (the Home one, at least.)
There’s still no word on when Mi 4 owners will get to test Windows 10 for phones or how many people will actually get to take part in the test. Until we hear more, it’s exciting to see a Windows 10-powered Mi 4 in action, because hey! It’s an Android phone running Windows 10 for phones!
