One month after announcing the One M9, HTC has taken the wraps off of another new One M- smartphone.
The HTC One M8s is the latest Android smartphone from HTC, and as its name suggests, it’s pretty similar to the One M8. Both phones have a 5-inch 1920x1080 LCD screen, 16GB of storage, microSD slots, 2GB of RAM, Duo Camera setups, and hardware designs that are pretty much the same. So what’s different here? Actually, HTC’s made a few tweaks that are worth being aware of.
Around back, HTC has removed the 4-megapixel UltraPixel sensor found on the One M8 and given the One M8s a more traditional 13-megapixel sensor. As I mentioned before, though, the M8s has a depth-sensing Duo Camera setup like the one found on the regular One M8. Inside of the One M8s is an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, replacing the quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset in the One M8. The One M8s also has a 2840mAh battery that’s slightly larger than the One M8’s 2600mAh juice pack. Finally, the One M8s’s body is a hair thicker than the One M8’s, coming in at 9.55mm versus 9.35mm.
The HTC One M8s will launch throughout Europe. As far as pricing goes, folks in the U.K. can expect to pay £379.99 for the device. Overall the One M8s looks like a strange beast that’s somewhere in the upper mid-range or lower high-end, and it could be a good option for shoppers that want a flagship-style smartphone with a premium build but with a price tag that’s a bit easier on the wallet.
