The HTC One (M9) has been dominating the HTC rumor mill lately, but today we’re switching things up with some information on a new HTC Desire smartphone.
Images and details on the HTC Desire 626 have been shared by @upleaks. The phone looks a bit like a cross between the HTC Desire 826 and the Desire 620, offering a rear camera that’s off to one side rather than the centered rear shooter on the Desire 620, but with front-facing speakers that are similar to its 620 sibling.
Alleged specs for the Desire 626 include a 5-inch 1280x720 display, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, 2GB of RAM (1GB in a lower-end CU model), 16GB of storage, a 2000mAh battery, and Android 4.4 with an Android 5.0 update to come in the future. Looking at the Desire 626’s processor, @upleaks says that it’s got a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek 6572, but the MediaTek 6572 is a dual-core chip, so it’s possible that the Desire 626 is using a MediaTek 6752, which is octa-core. The lower-end CU model will use a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor.
The Desire 626 sounds like a nice little upgrade over the Desire 620, offering an increase in RAM, a beefier processor, and a rear camera with more megapixels. The update design isn’t to shabby, either. There’s no word on when we might see the Desire 626 debut, but with MWC a little more than a month away, there’s a chance that the device could make the trip to Barcelona with its One (M9) sibling.
