Days after HTC announced plans for a “utopia in progress” event at the start of March, a report has surfaced that claims to have details on what HTC will show at its shindig.
A source speaking to Bloomberg says that HTC will reveal a flagship phone codenamed “M9” that’ll have a 20-megapixel rear camera and an UltraPixel front-facing shooter. The device will also reportedly pack an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, Dolby 5.1 audio tech, and HTC’s Sense 7 user interface.
All of those features are expected to be crammed into a body that looks like the HTC One (M8) in terms of size and design. It’s said that the flagship phone will be sold in gold, gray, and silver color options. The phone will allegedly debut “around the time” of MWC, meaning it’d likely be shown at HTC’s March 1 event.
Today’s report also claims that HTC will show off a new smartwatch that’ll link with Under Armour’s UA Record service, following up on a partnership that was announced earlier this month at CES.
This new report lines up with previous leaks regarding HTC’s next flagship Android phone. Those rumors point to a device codenamed “Hima” that’ll feature a 5-inch 1920x1080 screen, octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, and 20.7-megapixel rear camera.
While it remains to be seen how well this 20-megapixel rear camera on the M9/Hima actually performs, many folks’ biggest gripe about the One (M8) is its UltraPixel rear camera, so it’ll be interesting to see if the combination of the One (M8)’s build quality and a beefier camera can do well for HTC.
