There’s no question that smartphones are getting huge as of late, but with rare exceptions like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, we don’t see them with screens larger than 6 inches. Today we’ve got another phone to add to that exception list with one of the largest smartphone displays we’ve ever seen.
The BLU Studio 7.0 is now official, and as its name suggests, it’s got a 7-inch screen. Yep, 7 inches. BLU Products CEO Samuel Ohev-Zion explains that “demand in small tablets is fading” and so consumers are increasingly looking for “a single device that brings value with an awesome display size and convenience.”
The Studio 7.0’s screen comes in at a resolution of 1024x600, and it's got a 2-megapixel camera resting above it. Around back is a 5-megapixel camera and inside of the 9.4mm-thick body is a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a microSD card slot, FM radio, 3000mAh battery and Android 4.4.2. Network connectivity includes GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz and HSPA+ 21Mbps 850/1900 or 850/2100.
The BLU Studio 7.0 is now available from Amazon in blue, gold, gray, and white for a price of $149.99.
With smartphones getting bigger and more manufacturers getting in on the huge handset action, it certainly seems like phablets are a thing now. The Studio 7.0’s 7-inch screen size matches that of some tablets, though, and so some consumers might find it just a bit too large. If you just want one product that can make calls and has a large display for browsing the web and viewing content, though, the Studio 7.0 could be worth a look, especially for the price.
Would you carry a smartphone with a 7-inch screen?
