BlackBerry today held its official launch for the BlackBerry Classic, it’s new smartphone that runs BlackBerry 10.3.1 and has new software features like better camera performance and BlackBerry Assistant. But what if you’ve already got a new BlackBerry 10 device and don’t want to upgrade? Well now we know when you’ll be getting BB 10.3.1 on your current phone.

Ron Louks, BlackBerry’s President of Devices and Emerging Solutions, confirmed today that BlackBerry plans to complete its 10.3.1 update and begin pushing it to carriers and unlocked phones in February. Of course, it’ll have to go through carrier approval before being rolling out to branded BB models, so if you users of carrier-subsidized BlackBerrys may be in for a longer wait.

BlackBerry 10.3 is currently available on the BlackBerry Classic, Passport and P’9983. That leaves out older models like the Z10, Q10 and Z30, which many BlackBerry diehards likely bought in the past. Obviously it’s kind of a bummer that those users won’t get BlackBerry 10.3.1 until February at the earliest, but at least now we’ve got an idea of when it’ll begin rolling out to consumers.
