Android 5.0.1 has hit a number of devices since it debuted in early December, including the Nexus 4, Nexus 6 and HTC One Google Play edition devices. However, one notable device has been left out of the rollout: the Nexus 5. The good news is that that may be rectified today.
Sprint has updated its Nexus 5 support page to show that the N5 will get updated to build LRX22C today, December 15. That’s the same build that hit the AOSP, Nexus 4 and Nexus 6 earlier this month, indicating that the Nexus 5 will get Android 5.0.1 today. According to Sprint, the update includes “miscellaneous Android updates.”
It’s unclear why the Nexus 5 hasn’t yet received Android 5.0.1 but devices like the Nexus 6 and Nexus 4 have, but hey, it looks like that’ll change today. Sure, the move from Android 5.0 to 5.0.1 isn’t going to be huge, but I’m sure that most Nexus 5 owners still want to be on the newest version of Android as soon as possible.
If you want to keep checking for Android 5.0.1 on your Nexus 5, head into Settings > About phone > System updates.
