LITTLE ROCK, Ark., and TROY, Mich. - Alltel and Kmart Corporation today announced an agreement for Alltel to sell its wireless phones and services in kiosks at select Kmart stores. Alltel initially has begun opening kiosks at 43 stores in 15 states. Kmart operates about 415 stores in Alltel's current coverage area.
Terms of the two-year agreement were not disclosed.
"We are expanding the availability of our products and services to meet growing customer demand and providing Kmart stores another convenient service for their customers," said Paul Bowersock, senior vice president of channel support for Alltel. "Trained and knowledgeable Alltel sales representatives will staff the stores and offer a wide selection of phones and equipment available for Kmart customers during prime shopping hours."
Alltel's Greater, National and Total Freedom calling plans will be available with a complete line of Alltel Axcess data services. Customers also can make payments at the kiosks in participating Kmart stores.
"Services at our kiosks are backed by our unique customer promises," Bowersock added. "They include anytime plan changes without extending contracts; an automatic minute back for any call dropped on the Alltel network; and unlimited calls home on select plans."
Alltel is a customer-focused communications company with more than 15 million customers in 36 states and nearly $10 billion in annual revenues.
