LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Alltel, owner and operator of the nation's largest wireless network, is offering three new wireless phones to Western Wireless and Cellular One customers. The new handsets - the Motorola v266 and v262 and the LG AX5000 - follow Alltel's recent introduction of expanded local coverage and new Freedom rate plans.
"These new phones offer customers an expanded selection of handsets with feature-rich applications at very competitive prices," said Wade McGill, vice president of wireless product management at Alltel.
The Motorola v266 includes a camera with built-in auto focus, timer, digital zoom and adjustable resolution. It also has a speakerphone and voice-activated dialing for safety and ease-of-use. After a $50 mail-in rebate, the phone is available for $29.99 with a two-year service agreement.
The LG AX5000 features a camera with built-in flash and speakerphone in a stylish, compact design. The tri-mode phone has a color camera, digital zoom and speaker-independent voice recognition. The phone is available for $74.99 with a two-year service agreement. Customers can add a second line or upgrade an additional handset and receive a free AX5000 with a two-year service agreement.
The Motorola v262 has interchangeable covers for personalization and can receive and forward pictures. Users also can send and receive messages with graphics, sound and text. The phone features a speakerphone and voice-activated dialing. After a $40 mail-in rebate, the phone is available for $9.99 with a two-year service agreement.
The Motorola v262 and v266 are available at any local Western Wireless or Cellular One retail store or by calling 1-800-635-0304. The LG AX5000 will be available starting Wednesday, Nov. 23.
Alltel Messaging Packs let customers send and receive any combination of text, picture, video or instant messages for one low monthly price. Cost ranges from $5.99 per month for 300 messages to $24.99 a month for unlimited messages.
Alltel completed its $6.5 billion merger with Western Wireless Corporation, which operates primarily as Cellular One, on Aug. 1.
Alltel is a customer-focused communications company with more than 15 million customers in 36 states and $10 billion in annual revenues.
