Nearly a year after Google Play Newsstand took the place of Google Currents on Android, the same thing has happened on iOS.
Google today updated its Currents app for iOS to version 3.0.0, and in the process the app has become Google Play Newsstand. The app uses the Material Design that Google has been utilizing in Android L and its refreshed apps.
Upon opening Google Play Newsstand on iOS, you’re presented with several news sections that include Highlights, News, Business, Entertainment, Sports, Technology and World. You can also press on the hamburger menu in the app’s upper left corner to access My Library, where you can save subscriptions for publications and topics, Bookmarks for saving articles and an Explore section that’ll suggest publications to add to your library.
As on Android, the Google Play Newsstand app could be an easy way for you to easily keep up to date on news topics and publications that interest you, and it does so in a way that’s easy and more attractive that an RSS feed. Google Play Newsstand is a universal app that weighs in at 6.1MB in size.
