There’s some big news today regarding Instagram’s Hyperlapse app. And unfortunately for you Android folk, no, it doesn’t include a version for Google’s mobile operating system.
Hyperlapse is now receiving an update to version 1.1 that includes the ability to use your iOS device’s front-facing camera to record a “selfielapse.” All you have to do to hit the smaller round button with the arrows that can be seen in the leftmost screenshot above.
Today’s Hyperlapse update also brings an updated design that better fits the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus’s larger displays and some unspecified “bug fixes and reliability improvements.”
Considering how popular selfies are, it’s kind of surprising that Hyperlapse didn’t launch with front-facing camera support. It only took a month for the feature to arrive, though, and now all of you iPhone and iPad folk can easily create speedy videos with yourself included in them. Now we just have to hope that an Android version of the app is near the top of Instagram’s to-do list.

UPDATE: The Hyperlapse team has commented on the possibility of an Android version of the app. Speaking to The Verge, Hyperlapse says that it wants to launch an Android version, but that “the requisite APIs are not currently available on Android.”
