Today Samsung held its big “Tab Into Color” event, and just as expected, the company took the wraps off its newest Android-powered tablets.
The Galaxy Tab S devices come in two different screen sizes — 8.4 inches and 10.5 inches — but both models share the same super high-res 2560x1600 screen resolution. That’s the same resolution as the Galaxy Tab Pro and Note Pro tablets that Samsung introduced earlier this year, but while those devices used LCD display tech, the Galaxy Tab S models use Super AMOLED panels.
The Galaxy Tab S will be available in black and white color options, both of which feature gold trim. The new slates will be available for pre-order at 12:01 a.m. EDT on June 13, with a pricing set at $399.99 for the 8.4-inch Wi-Fi-only model and $499.99 for the 10.5-incher. Both Wi-Fi models are expected to launch in July, with the LTE-enabled variants on AT&T, Sprint (10.5-inch), T-Mobile (10.5-inch) and Verizon (8.4-inch and 10.5-inch) to come afterward.
While these new Galaxy Tab S tablets don’t differ too greatly from the aforementioned Tab Pro and Note Pro models, their Super AMOLED panels will make them attractive to folks that like bright, saturated colors on their screens. It’s also good to see that both the 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch models will be available with LTE connectivity for folks that like to do their tabbing on the go.
