We here at PhoneDog, both staff and readers alike, love us some smartphone and tablet action. After all, these are things that are usually part of our lives every single day. Aside from the smartphones themselves, though, we also love the accessories that are made to accompany them. If you’re on the lookout for new accessories for smartphones, you’re likely looking up some of the best smartphone accessories - but what about the rest?
Not all smartphone accessories were made to be pristigious, or even useful, however. There are quite a few accessories on the market that are made purely for entertainmet purposes, so today I decided to go on a hunt for some of the most intersting smartphone accessories I could find.
Ready, steady, and go:
Is that Apple on the back of all of your Apple products not enough to show people how much you truly love Apple products? Of course it isn’t. What better way to prove your loyalty to the original smartphone than by buying this lovely pair of iPhone earrings? Although a little outdated, there’s no mistaking that these earrings are the mark of a true and loyal Apple fan.
I haven’t decided whether this iPhone 4S hand case is a charming or a morbid idea. The idea of holding a hand that isn’t attached to anybody is something that I think only the Addam’s family would find appealing, but I suppose with the lack of face-to-face interaction we have because of smartphones, one might think it’s a good idea to always be holding hands while using one?
I can’t even justify this one. It’s creepy, but also kind of funny. But mostly creepy.
If you grew up or had kids around the time that legos were popular, you’ve probably gotten pretty good at making sure you don’t step on them. If you’ve almost had a run-in or two with stepping on your smartphone, a good way to make sure it doesn’t happen is by implementing this handy dandy lego case to your iPhone. Surely by doubling up on “Things You Don’t Want To Step On”, the risk of actually stepping on your phone will be much lower. But I can’t imagine that holding this for long periods of time will actually feel good. Maybe it’s time to take a second look at that hand case - that seems like it would be easier to grip, doesn’t it?
Yeah, I’m not really sure why this is a thing, but it is. Also, it seems like most of the novelty smartphone accessories are for the iPhones, so I apologize to anybody who really wanted to get some of these things for their other smartphones, but in this case perhaps it would have been better left to one type of phone because I really don’t think anybody should be buying underpants for their smartphones. I mean, clearly it’s a gag gift, but still... why?
Here’s one that I’m truly torn on: smartphone jeans. These pants from Alphyn Industries and Wearcom were designed to keep your smartphone in a discreet yet accessible location inside of your pants, and no, I don’t mean that it just has pockets. Not your typical pockets, anyway. These pockets are clear, yet protected by a zippered layer of denim for discreetness. Instead of constantly taking your smartphone out of your pocket to check for messages or for the time, all you have to do is unzip the first layer and check through the clear plastic. You put your smartphone in upside-down so that the screen is facing you when you look at it. A little weird, but I guess it does greatly reduce the risk of accidentally dropping your phone when taking it out of your pocket. A truly unique accessory, indeed.
There’s a lot of seriousness in this industry, but sometimes it’s fun just to look at some of the novelty items people come up with when it comes to smartphones. What are some of your favorite unique accessories? Share them with us in the comments below!
