Lately the rumor mill has been churning with reports about two new Samsung tablets, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5, which will reportedly feature 2560x1600 AMOLED displays. Now a new report claims that those aren’t the only high-res Android tablets that Samsung’s got cooking in its kitchen.
A source speaking to GSMArena says that Samsung is working on a new tablet that features a whopping 13.3-inch display at a resolution of 2560x1600. The device, said to be codenamed “Warhol,” will reportedly feature an LCD display rather than the AMOLED panel found on its high-res counterparts. The device is expected to arrive in Wi-Fi-only (T910) and 3G (T911) variants.
It’s not often that we see tablets larger than 10 inches hit the market, but there have been a couple in recent years. Samsung recently took the wraps off of 12.2-inch NotePRO and TabPRO slates, and Toshiba once launched a 13.3-inch tablet of its own.
Now Samsung appears to be making “bigger is better” its new motto. Obviously a tablet with a 13.3-inch screen won’t be the most portable device around, but for those folks that love to sit on their couch and watch TV shows on movies on their tablet, this new 13.3-inch Samsung slate could be worth keeping an eye on.
Today’s report also claims to have a couple of additional details on the aforementioned Galaxy Tab S tablets. It’s said that the 8.4-inch model is codenamed “Klimt” and will be available in Wi-Fi-only (T700) and 3G (T701) variants. Meanwhile, the 10.5-incher may be codenamed “Chagall” and could also be offered in Wi-Fi-only (T800) and 3G (T801) flavors.
