Remember earlier this month when a Verizon-branded Xperia Z2 showed up on Sony’s official Google+ page? At the time, Sony said that the image was a mockup that was posted mistakenly. If that’s the case, though, apparently someone at Sony didn’t get the memo about that mistake, because another Verizon-branded Xperia Z2 has popped up on an official Sony web page.
The folks over at XperiaBlog discovered that a Verizon-branded Xperia Z2 recently popped up on Sony Korea’s product page for the new flagship. The image touts the Z2’s water resistance, and in the image we can see a device with a “Verizon 4G LTE” tattooed on its backside. The image has since been replaced with a generic, Sony-branded Z2.
The Sony Xperia Z2 originally debuted back in February with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and a 20.7-megapixel rear shooter. Sony has said that it plans to sell an unlocked version of its new flagship in the U.S. this summer, but so far the company hasn’t made any announcements about carrier launches. Obviously a Verizon Xperia Z2 won’t be official until Sony and Verizon make it so, but with this latest leak, it’s looking increasingly likely that Sony’s new smartphone will eventually find a home on Big Red’s shelves.
