Heads up, Nokia Lumia 2520 owners, because an issue has been identified with certain chargers for your tablet that you may want to be aware of.
Nokia today announced that it has identified an issue with the European and U.K. versions of the Lumia 2520’s AC-300 charger that could lead to its plastic cover becoming loose and separated. If this occurs, the exposed parts could cause an electric shock if touched while the charger is plugged in. Nokia is urging consumers to stop using both the AC-300 charger as well as the Lumia 2520 travel charger.
Nokia says that around 30,000 chargers are affected by this issue, including around 600 travel chargers that have been sold in the U.S. As a result of the defect, Nokia is pausing sales of the Lumia 2520 and its travel charger in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Russia, Switzerland and the U.K. Nokia is also suspending sales of the travel charger in the U.S.
While I’m sure that there are some Lumia 2520 owners that will be disappointed that they’ll be unable to charger their Windows RT slate for a bit, it’s good that Nokia has caught the problem and is working to correct it. Thankfully, the Finnish firm says that there have been no confirmed incidents related to the issue. Nokia has launched a page to keep consumers up to date on this issue and says that it’s currently “working with urgency to minimize the inconvenience” to its customers.
Have any of you picked up a Lumia 2520 or its travel charger?
