Last month, Nokia and Microsoft announced that the closure of their deal that’ll see Microsoft acquire Nokia’s Devices & Services division would be delayed until April because it was still under review in Asia. Well now we’ve finally got a date on which the two entities will be come one, as Microsoft and Nokia have announced that their transaction is expected to close on April 25.

In addition to this expected completion date, Microsoft has detailed a few of the changes that its agreement has undergone since it was announced last year:

• Microsoft will manage Nokia.com and Nokia’s social network accounts for “up to a year”
• Twenty-one of Nokia’s employees in China will join Microsoft and continue their work
• Microsoft will no longer acquire Nokia’s Korean manufacturing plant as was originally planned

The deal will see Microsoft drop over $7 billion for Nokia’s hardware division as well as a license to the Finnish firm’s patents and mapping services. Microsoft hasn’t yet said exactly how it plans to utilize Nokia’s Devices & Services business once the deal is done, but because Microsoft owns Windows Phone and Nokia is the platform’s biggest backer, it’ll definitely be interesting to see what comes out of this deal. Thankfully, with the acquisition expected to close in just a few short days, it may not be long before we learn more.
