Bite-site video sharing service Vine has made some big updates to its service since it launched a little over a year ago, including rolling out apps for both Android and Windows Phone. Today Vine has announced another major upgrade to its service in the form of private messaging.
As you might've guessed from the name, Vine messages allow users to send private text and video messages to other people on Vine. Users can even send Vine messages to people in their address book that aren't yet signed up for Vine using email or SMS. You can choose to only receive Vine messages from your friends by turning off the "Other" inbox in your Settings menu.
Vine messages can be sent to multiple people at once. However, it's worth noting that each message is a one-on-one conversation, so sending a message to multiple people will start multiple conversations.
In addition to private messages, this update to version 2.0 of the Vine app includes the ability to customize your Vine profile with different colors. Vine has also added undisclosed bug fixes and performance improvements.
Overall this looks like a pretty spiffy update to Vine. The new messaging feature will make it easy for users to communicate with others and send special videos and texts that are intended for select recipients. And hey, bug fixes and performance improvements are always nice to have.
This Vine update is rolling out to Android and iOS today, so if you've got the app installed, be sure to hit up Google Play or the App Store and get to VM-ing!
