We're now less than a week out from the start of Mobile World Congress, but apparently ZTE just couldn't wait any longer to tell us about the new products that it'll be bringing with it to the big show. The company announced this morning that it plans to introduce "a range of high-performance smartphones and innovative products" in Barcelona, including a new phablet device and a Firefox OS phone.
The first handset teased by ZTE is the Grand Memo II LTE. As you might've guessed, this is the follow-up to the ZTE Grand Memo, which made its debut at MWC 2013. Details on the Grand Memo II LTE are still fairly light, but ZTE does say that it'll pack a 6-inch display. Judging by the unit's name, I'd say it's a safe bet that the Grand Memo II LTE will support 4G connectivity as well.
ZTE will also be showing its latest Firefox OS phone at MWC next week. Dubbed the "ZTE Open C," it's one of the first phones to be powered by Firefox OS 1.3. As with the Grand Memo II LTE, there's not a lot of spec information available for the Open C quite yet.
In addition to its two new phones, ZTE plans to show off the latest version of its MiFavor custom user interface. ZTE has been using the MiFavor UI on its Android phones since mid-2011, and version 2.3 is described as being a "brand new user interface" that will "provide a superior user experience" for consumers.
Mobile World Congress is the biggest wireless show of the year, and so it's no surprise to learn that ZTE will have some new goodies on display there. We don't have many solid details about ZTE's new wares right now, so it'll be interesting to check 'em out once they're officially unveiled next week. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Grand Memo II LTE and its 6-inch display fit in the hand, and the Open C will be worth a look since it'll be running the new version of Mozilla's Firefox OS.
