There have been quite a few legal battles in the world of mobile in recent years, including tiffs between Apple and Samsung, Apple and HTC and HTC and Nokia. Lately it seems as though those device makers are more willing to put down their swords and lawyers and sign patent agreements. Some of the bigger deals that we've seen have been between Apple and HTC and, more recently, Samsung and Google. Now we can add another major patent deal to the list, as HTC and Nokia announced today that they've signed a patent agreement.

According to the official announcement of the deal, HTC and Nokia have settled all of the litigation between them and have entered into a "patent and technology collaboration agreement." The deal will see HTC make payments of an undisclosed amount to Nokia, while the Finnish firm will gain access to HTC's LTE patents. The two companies say that they also plan to look into other possible technology projects that they can collaborate on.

While we've definitely seen fewer patent battles lately than in recent years, there are still some companies that are duking it out in the courtroom. That included HTC and Nokia up until today. It's good to see HTC and Nokia strike a patent agreement and bring down the level of litigation in the wireless world, and considering that HTC was doing rather poorly in its recent court battles against Nokia, I'm sure that Peter Chou and Co. are also happy to have finally struck a deal with Nokia.
