Pre-orders for the new iPhone 5c officially went live this morning, giving consumers everywhere the chance to claim one of Apple's colorful new smartphones ahead of their Sept. 20 launch date. Unfortunately for anyone interested in the iPhone 5s, it doesn't look like Apple or any of its carrier partners will be holding a pre-sale for this year's flagship iPhone model. The good news is that Apple today revealed exactly when the iPhone 5s will go on sale, giving prospective buyers a full week to plan out their purchase.
Apple has announced that the iPhone 5s will be made available through its online store at 12:01 a.m. Pacific (3:01 a.m. Eastern) on Friday, Sept. 20. Meanwhile, customers that'd prefer to have their shiny new iPhone on launch day will be able to visit a physical Apple Store starting at 8:00 a.m. local time.
It's disappointing to see that Apple isn't offering iPhone 5s pre-orders, as there are likely some folks out there that want an iPhone 5s on launch day but will have a difficult time getting to an Apple Store or carrier shop to pick up a unit. The fact that interested customers now have a week to figure out a plan is nice, though, and online ordering is always an option for those people that simply can't get to a brick and mortar outlet next Friday. So now that the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s availability details are out, will you be picking up a unit? If so, which one?
