Google caught a lot of folks off-guard when it introduced its Chromecast streaming dongle back in late July. The device plugs into the back of a user's TV and plays back content from Netflix, YouTube, Google Play and Chrome, all while under the control of an Android or iOS device or a computer.

At $35, the Chromecast is firmly planted in impulse buy territory for most, and it sold out shortly after its launch. We've seen stock randomly appear and disappear at retailers since then, but today the Chromecast has finally made its way back into Google's official Play Store. The streaming stick is now listed as "In stock" and ready to ship in 1-2 business days, meaning that anyone still without a unit won't have to wait too much longer to get their mitts on one.

There's certainly no shortage of boxes and dongles out there that can stream media to a television, but the Chromecast's $35 price tag helps it to stand out from the crowd a bit. And while it doesn't currently support as many streaming sources as some of its peers, it's certainly possible that more apps will gain Chromecast support in the future.
