Rumors of a 6-inch Nokia Lumia Windows Phone codenamed "Bandit" have been swirling in recent weeks, and now what may be the first image of the upcoming phone/tablet has leaked out. The folks at WPCentral have posted a photo of what is said to be the 6-inch Lumia, which @evleaks recently claimed will be known as Lumia 1520, lounging around in the wild next to a Lumia 1020.

The site cautions that it's unable to verify the identity of this mystery Nokia, but there is some evidence to suggest that it could indeed be the Bandit/1520. Not only does this Nokia-branded device dwarf the 1020 that it's next to, but its display resembles the 6-inch Nokia front panel that leaked out last month.

In addition to the device's size, we can see what appears to be a wireless charging rear cover on the 1520's backside and some "proto.nokia.com" branding at the bottom of its face. There's also a large Live Tile next to a medium Live Tile on the phone's Start screen, a feature that's supposedly enabled for larger displays in the upcoming Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update.

The Nokia Bandit/Lumia 1520 is expected to be one of Windows Phone's first Windows Phone phablet devices. Rumors have suggested that it'll sport a 6-inch 1080p display, which is substantially larger than the 4.5-inch and 4.7-inch Lumia models that are currently available. Also said to be included is a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and a camera that's at least 20-megapixels.

Obviously the phone/tablet hybrid form factor won't suit everyone, but it's good to see that Windows Phone fans will at least have the option of picking up larger hardware in the near future. As with many other Nokia Lumia handsets, the Bandit/Lumia 1520 will reportedly be sold by AT&T in the U.S., with an announcement expected for later this month.
