Ready for a nice Tuesday surprise, iOS developers? If so, grab your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, because Apple is now rolling out iOS 7 beta 5 over the air. Apple has been known to push out iOS beta updates every two weeks in the past, but the most recent iOS 7 beta releases have strayed from that pattern. A period of three weeks stretched between the pushes of iOS 7 beta 3 and iOS 7 beta 4 due to an attempted intrusion of Apple's Developer Center, and now iOS 7 beta 5 is coming to us just a little over a week after the release of iOS 7 beta 4.
iOS 7 beta 5 is available for the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod touch, iPad mini, iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4. The software is available to developers that are registered with Apple's iOS Developer Center, so if you've ponied up your $99 annual fee and have one of the aforementioned devices, you can hit up Settings > General > Software Update to download the latest beta software.
According to a report from 9to5Mac, one of the most notable changes in iOS 7 beta 5 includes a new, more colorful set of Settings icons that can be seen in the left screenshot below. The update is also said to bring a few other small tweaks, like the ability to disable the Control Center menu while in apps. The final version of iOS 7 will be released to consumers this fall. It'll bring with it an overhauled design with new icons, new-look multitasking, Control Center, a refreshed version of Siri and more.
