Ready for our third big carrier announcement of the month? Verizon just sent us an invitation to an event that it's holding in New York City on July 23, teasing that it'll use the shindig to take the wraps off of "the next generation of one of [its] most popular family of devices." The big red carrier didn't divulge any other details about its plans.
We'll likely have to wait until July 23 to find out exactly what Verizon has under its big red hat, but the fact that it refers to one of its most popular device families suggests that new DROID devices will be shown. The new Motorola DROID Ultra, DROID MAXX, and DROID Mini have been leaking out left and right lately, giving us an early glimpse at the Kevlar-clad handsets that may soon replace the RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD, and RAZR M on Verizon's shelves.
One of the aforementioned leaks claimed that we could see the DROID Ultra in stores as soon as August 8, so it may not be long before "the next generation of one of [Verizon's] most popular family of devices" goes from being a tease in an invitation to a physical thing in your hand. Keep it locked to PhoneDog for all of the news from Verizon's July 23 shindig as it happens.
