Looks like our prediction about AT&T's "new smartphone teaser" was spot-on. AT&T just announced that it will launch the Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active on June 21, with pricing set at $199.99 with a two-year commitment. Customers that'd like to guarantee themselves a unit at launch will be able to pre-order one starting on June 14. When it comes to specs, the AT&T-flavored S 4 Active looks fairly similar to the international model. The specs that AT&T has confirmed for its variant are as follows:
The international version of the Galaxy S 4 also touts a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot for additional memory and a 2,600mAh battery, all of could very well be present in AT&T's model as well. While it is kind of a bummer to see that AT&T won't be stocking that fiery orange version of the S 4 Active (I'm just a sucker for colorful phones, I suppose), it's good to see that the toughened version of the Galaxy S 4 will be hitting at least one U.S. carrier. As I've said before, smartphones in this category typically end up with lower-end specs in exchange for their toughness, but the Galaxy S 4 Active is a higher-end handset that should still be able to take a bit of a beating.
