There's been quite a bit of speculation about what Samsung could be planning to show at its June 20 Galaxy and ATIV-focused event, especially after the company's recent slew of new Galaxy hardware announcements. It looks like Samsung might still have a thing or two up its sleeve, though, as company co-CEO J.K. Shin has revealed that Samsung has another camera-focused product in the pipeline.
The Korea Times has been told by J.K. Shin that Samsung intends to show off the new Galaxy Camera 2 at its June 20 event in London. The Samsung chief teased that his firm will introduce its "latest mirrorless camera that runs on Google’s Android software" at the event, but he didn't offer up any further details on what features the next Galaxy Camera may boast.
Samsung's original Galaxy Camera was a point and shoot-style camera that ran Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on a 4.77-inch touchscreen. The fact that it runs Google's mobile software allows its users to easily share their photos to a variety of different services with software that many smartphone-owning consumers were already familiar with. Samsung did recently introduce the Galaxy S 4 Zoom, an Android-powered smartphone with a 16-megapixel camera and optical zoom, but the new Galaxy Camera will probably be more like a traditional camera and target consumers that are interested in that type of device.
