After first appearing on T-Mobile late last year, it appears that the LG Optimus L9 is now headed for Big Magenta's new subsidiary. An image has been shared by Phandroid that purportedly shows a new version of the Optimus L9 that will launch on MetroPCS. There's no MetroPCS branding to be found on the hardware, but the home screen shows Metro's Visual Voicemail app icon, just like the one found on the LG Connect 4G.
The MetroPCS version of the Optimus L9 is expected to be fairly similar to the T-Mobile-flavored model. That means that we can expect a 4.5-inch qHD (960x540) touchscreen, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera, microSD slot and a 2,150mAh battery powering the whole package.
There's no word yet on exactly how much this MetroPCS variant of the Optimus L9 will cost or when it'll launch, but it's said that an official announcement regarding its availability will be made in the coming weeks. While the Optimus L9 may not the most high-end handset ever, especially now that it's been available on T-Mobile since October 2012, it could still be a solid handset for MetroPCS customers in the market for a new smartphone that won't make their wallet cry tears of pain. Do any of you already own the T-Mobile Optimus L9? If so, how has it been treating you?
