The Jelly Bean update for AT&T's version of the Samsung Galaxy S III was originally made available back at the beginning of December 2012. At the time, though, the update was only released through Samsung's Kies computer software, meaning that many AT&T Galaxy S III owners that don't frequently check blogs for information on updates may not have known about the update. The good news is that the update will soon become more widespread, as AT&T has confirmed to Engadget that it will start rolling the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update out over the air to Galaxy S III users today. Galaxy S III owners will need to be on a Wi-Fi connection to install the update.

When AT&T first announced the Galaxy S III's Jelly Bean update in December, it said that the software includes new features like Blocking Mode and a Pop-Up Play update that allows for the picture-in-picture window to be resized, as well as some camera tweaks like a low-light photo mode. Those are on top of the goodies that come with any bump up to Jelly Bean, such as Google Now and enhanced notifications. This Jelly Bean update is clearly a big one for the Galaxy S III, and any users on AT&T that are still running Ice Cream Sandwich should definitely keep an eye out for the update notification.
