The HTC M7 has been the subject of a couple of rumors in the past month, but neither of those reports contained an image showing what the new handset might look like. Today we're finally getting an early peek at the M7 hardware, though, as a render of the device has been posted by @evleaks on Unwired View. The image is said to have come from a "trusted source with access to an early version of its [M7's] firmware," with the image you see above originating from a tutorial video on how to install the M7's SIM card. This new report also claims that the M7 will feature an IR port with the ability to learn, meaning that it could potentially become a remote control for other electronics.
Looking at this image of the M7, we can see what looks to be a power button on the top of the device, as well as a front-facing camera and a pair of sensors on the upper portion of its face. According to previous rumors, the M7 will feature a 4.7-inch 1080p display on its face, a quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage under its hood and a pair of cameras, with a 13-megapixel shooter around back and a 2-megapixel camera on the front. It's suggested by @evleaks that the final M7 could look a tad different than what we're looking at today since the device in this image is missing HTC branding and the like.
As for when we might see this thing in the flesh, it's been said that HTC could be planning to introduce the M7 at Mobile World Congress, which takes place at the end of February. A launch is reportedly planned for just a few weeks later, though it's not clear exactly when we might see the M7 hit U.S. shelves. The good news is that the M7 will "probably" hit more than one carrier, says @evleaks, with being named as possible operators in previous reports.
