Yesterday in Las Vegas, Huawei announced two new phones, the Ascend Mate and Ascend D2. I had a chance to get some hands-on time with each. The Ascend D2 is the smaller brother of the Mate, measuring in with a 5-inch 1080p display. Other specifications are: a 13-megapixel camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 3,000mAh battery.
Like its larger brother, the D2 ships with Android 4.1.2 beneath a heavily laden custom interface. The software is a stark contrast from the stock Android interface and is very uninspired all around.
Like the Mate, the Ascend D2 is unlikely to ever make an official appearance stateside, but it's not entirely impossible. It's set to launch later this month in China and other markets will follow after. Below is a photo gallery of the Ascend D2 for your viewing pleasure.
