If the one thing that kept you from picking up a Porsche Design P'9981 BlackBerry was the lack of a black version and not its high price, your wish has finally become reality. Porsche Design has unveiled a new black version of its P'9981 BlackBerry, which follows the launch of the silver model earlier this year. As with the original P'9981, buyers can expect some exclusive goodies when purchasing this new black model, including a custom Porsche Design user interface and a "premium" BlackBerry Messenger PIN.
Outside of the new black color, this P'9981 is fairly similar to the silver model, meaning that it features a stainless steel frame encased in plastic and a leather backside that's been hand-applied. There's also a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8GB internal storage, microSD slot, 5-megapixel camera, 2.8-inch touchscreen and the BlackBerry 7.1 operating system.
Unfortunately for anyone interested in buying a black P'9981 as a holiday gift, the new device won't be made available until the middle of January 2013. There's no mention of pricing in the announcement (probably one of those "If you have to ask, you can't afford it" things), but the silver model is currently priced at €1,475.00, or around $1947.15 U.S. dollars. in Porsche Design's online shop, so expect a similar price tag for this black variant. Obviously the P'9981 is a device that's aimed at a certain audience, but hey, at least anyone willing to drop a couple thousand dollars on a BlackBerry will soon have a couple of color options to choose from. For anyone that's interested in the P'9981 but isn't that interested in it, our hands-on with the silver model is available below.
