Apple announced last month that Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services at the company, would be placed in charge of Maps after the departure of SVP of iOS Scott Forstall. Now it appears that Cue is already making his presence felt within the Maps group, as Bloomberg is reporting that he has fired Richard Williamson, the manager of the Maps team. Sources claim that Cue is aiming to "install a new leadership team" for the Maps crew, though it's not yet clear who will replace Williamson. An Apple spokesperson declined to comment on the claims that Williamson has been fired.

Apple debuted its own Maps application alongside iOS 6, replacing the Google-sourced Maps app that'd been included in iOS up to that point. However, many users have been unhappy with the performance of Apple's Maps app, which lead to an apology from Apple CEO Tim Cook and a promise that the app would improve. It's said that a dedicated team at Apple has been working to iron out the issues with Maps.
