Thought this month was already chock full of new hardware announcements? Well now we've got one more to add to the list, as LG and Qualcomm have sent out invitations to an event on September 19 (the same day as an HTC event). The two companies are inviting everyone to "Live without boundaries," and behind the text there appears to be a silhouetted smartphone being hit by a ray of electricity.
So what might LG and Qualcomm be planning? Outside of the vague statement and image, there are no clues on the invitation as to what they may have up their sleeve. That doesn't mean that we can't speculate, though! Considering the two companies involved, the first thing that springs to mind is the LG Optimus G, which features Qualcomm's quad-core APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 processor. The Optimus G was officially unveiled at the end of August, and at the time LG said that the device would be launching globally later in 2012. There were no U.S.-specific availability details mentioned at the time, but it looks like we may get just that in less than a week. Any of you think you'd be interested in the Optimus G and its 4.7-inch 1280x768 display if it does make its way to U.S. shelves?
