Just a little less than a week after Eric Schmidt dropped some Android activation knowledge on us at the Motorola/Verizon event, Andy Rubin has taken to Twitter to give us another update on how Google's green robot is doing. Rubin just revealed that there have been 500 million Android devices activated to date, up from the 480 million figure Schmidt gave a week ago. Rubin also tweeted that there are 1.3 million Android products activated every day.
Andy Rubin has only sent 12 tweets to date, and apparently the exec thought that the evening before an Apple event would be a good time to dust @arubin off and share the latest Android activation figures. Google revealed at I/O in late June that Android was at 400 million total activations, so the platform managed to grow by about 100 million in around two and a half months. Hitting the half a billion mark is quite a milestone, and I'm sure that Andy Rubin and all of the other folks at Google are proud of the progress that Android has made. How many of the 500 million Android activations are you responsible for?
