AT&T is only a few days away from introducing a new stolen phone blocking service, according to a new report. A source speaking to The Verge claims that the service, which is said to be coming on July 10, will let customers suspend service on a device and prevent it from being used on AT&T without having to go so far as to perform a full SIM block on it. Once a customer contacts an AT&T service representative and adds the product to the block list, service to the phone or tablet will be cut off if someone attempts to use it. A leaked image adds that if a device has a remote wipe feature, customers must first use that before adding hardware to the block list. The blocking service will reportedly be open to both postpaid and prepaid devices.

In order to have a block lifted from a device that's been reported stolen to AT&T, the customer that originally asked for the block to be put in place must ask for its removal. While all of this is still unofficial at this point, the new security measure is reportedly going live next Tuesday, so it may not be long before we hear more on the matter.
