Sony said late last year that the Tablet S and Tablet P would be updated to Android 4.0, and the company reached the first half of its goal in late April when it bumped the Tablet S up to Ice Cream Sandwich. Now Sony has begun following through on the remainder of its plans, as it's announced on its official developer blog that an update to Android 4.0.3 is now rolling out to the Tablet P. The update brings with it a handful of new goodies, including a "Small Apps" feature that allows for quick access to apps like the Browser and Calculator. Sony says that the Tablet P update is currently available is "selected markets," but there's no mention of exactly which markets those are.
While it's kind of a bummer that Tablet P owners have had to wait a little longer for their taste of Ice Cream Sandwich than their Tablet S brethren, the good news is that the Tablet P update has finally begun rolling out. If you've got Sony's clamshell tablet and haven't gotten an update notification, it might be worth your time to mosey on into Settings and manually check for an update.
