T-Mobile iPhone rumors have been around nearly as long as the iPhone itself, but the claims of the device's existence have been thrust into the spotlight even more this year thanks to reports that Sprint will be getting Apple's new smartphone next month. However, a new image posted by our compadres at TmoNews shows that Magenta may be missing out on the iPhone 5 when (if?) it debuts next month. The photo details a town hall meeting for T-Mobile employees held with the carrier's Chief Marketing Officer, Cole Brodman, and it includes a quote from Brodman himself: "We are not going to get the iPhone 5 this year." It's also worth pointing out that the document teases that T-Mobile is planning to introduce two new smartphones this holiday season.
This news is definitely a bummer for the Magenta Army, especially considering that, if Sprint does land the iPhone 5, T-Mobile will likely be the only U.S. carrier without the device. All hope for an iOS device on T-Mobile isn't lost yet, though! The fact that Brodman says that T-Mobile isn't getting the iPhone 5 "this year" has led some to believe that the device could be landing at Magenta sometime in 2012. There's also no mention of the iPhone 4S here, so that's still a possibility for this year. And if all else fails, T-Mobile users hungry for a taste of iOS can continue to do what they've been doing for years now: get an unlocked iPhone and pop in your T-Mobile SIM card. Doing so will only yield EDGE speeds, but hey, for some that might be better than nothing.
