Hot on the heels of news that Sprint may be launching both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 in October, a new rumor has emerged suggesting that the new iOS handset may also be making its way to T-Mobile. The report comes from the folks at MacTrast, who have been told by an anonymous that T-Mobile is currently expecting to launch the iPhone 5 in early to mid-October. That launch window lines up with the one from yesterday's Wall Street Journal article.
Today's report joins the bevy of other rumors alleging that the iPhone is T-Mobile-bound, like this analyst's claim that a new iPhone would be hitting both Sprint and T-Mobile in September. Such reports are nothing new, but back in April the T-Mo iPhone rumor train got a jolt of energy thanks to a photo reportedly showing an iPhone 4 being tested on T-Mobile's 3G network.
So will Apple indeed launch its new iPhone on T-Mobile this year? It's possible. I'm sure the folks in Cupertino would like to offer up their new handset on all four carriers to bring in an onslaught of new users. On the other hand, though, Apple may decide not to bother releasing the iPhone 5 on T-Mo since the carrier may end up being consumed by AT&T early next year. Thankfully we're probably not much more than a month away from the event at which Apple will unveil its new smartphone and answer all of these nagging questions once and for all. Until then, go ahead and drop your opinion on whether or not the T-Mobile iPhone is coming in the comments below. At this point, your guess is as good as anyone's.
