You know the drill in the Android world. Another day, another phone. The HTC EVO 3D enjoyed a brief reign at the top of our Top Smartphones List for Sprint, but it has been replaced by the smokin' hot Motorola PHOTON 4G, which debuted a few days ago. Powered by a zippy 1 GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, the PHOTON offers a 4.3-inch qHD display, 8-megapixel camera, front-facing camera, global roaming capabilities, and Android 2.3 with Motorola's custom user interface.
While the EVO 3D offers an excellent array of multimedia options and comes with HTC's award-winning Sense UI, the wireless radio pales in comparison to the PHOTON's. During my testing in a Sprint dead zone a few days ago, the EVO 3D struggled to hold a call with zero bars of service, while the PHOTON 4G consistently had 2-3 bars of service. Simply put, the PHOTON 4G is one of the best high-end Android smartphones on the market today, and is an excellent choice for Sprint users that live in a fringe coverage area.
